best ro/di for 55 gallon
I'm looking for a good ro/di unit to be used for a 55 gallon tank. I'm not looking to spend a fortune on it though. What brand would be recommended and gpd? Also how many stages would be good enough? I'm sure any ro/di would be better than just tap water but I still would like to get a nice one. Just looking for the best value. Thanks!

I would highly recommend air water ice - this one in particular:
http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1...r-100-GPD.html Price is awesome, comes with a free TDS meter and all your hookups.. and I've had great customer service when I'd done stupid things like forgetting to add stuff to an order before clicking buy. |

Any of the sponsors work very well and each has great customer service.
As far as number of stages it depends on how good or bad your water is to begin with because your unit will have to work harder i.e. 5 stage vs. 4. Look for a local reef club and ask the members what the TDS are or call your water supply company. They also produce annual reports on drinking water. As far as GPD, look at the rejection rates too. Most will be in the 90 - 98% range so higher the better. I use AWI typhoon 3 75 gpd system. My TDS are around 150 to start and I have no problem dropping them to 0 to 1. |
