Bought a Reef octopus 800s

I just purchased a used reef octopus 800s and all i can say is this is a pain to get it to work. I've tried everything. The best i got it to work was it started foaming up so high, that when i put the cup on top, all the foam comes into the cup and fills it up. No matter wut i do i cant get this to work correctly. Im starting to hate this skimmer.

Any help guys? =/

Maybe it's sitting in too deep if water. My skimmer was doing the same thing. I put a clay pot upside down under it and it is putting out dry foam now

Sounds like it might be too deep in the sump, even on my sro5000 external if the output is more that like 5" under the sump water level it really jacks up the adjustability in the skimmer body
Try raising it up more, try to target like ~8" depth or so
On the old octo 160 it worked best in ~7" of water
