Question Halide Lighting help please!

Alright I need help! My light fixture is a 48" 2x 150 watt 10k and 2x 130watt dual actinics 420/460nm. I have a 75 gallon tank with the following corals. BTA, Frogspawn, Green Star Polyp, Kenya Tree, 2 different kind of mushrooms and some kind of clove coral! I have no money to afford a chiller and just want to lower my temp a little bit! I am going to move my fixture to the hanging kit from the ceiling tomorrow. I was just wondering how many inches from the top of the tank should I hang the light! My tank is 21" deep. I would greatly appreciate any advice!

Do you have any fans blowing across the tank or the lights. A lot of times that's all that's needed.

Usually you only need a box fan running toward the surface to keep it cool. But if you want to hang it to keep it cooler. Normally you go 8" to 10" above water surface

A cheapo clip on fan from Walmart is what I use to keep my tank cool. I just have it clipped to my canopy, but if you have a sump, you can clip it on there and aim it to blow across the surface of the water.

You want your halides about 8-10" above the surface of the water.

Ahh, raising it will help a lot. Mine is about 8" above the water and with my halide on and the fan blowing it stays about 76-78 degrees. If I forget to turn on the fan it shoots up to around 84.

Since it is getting to a 106 with the heat index around here, I have two fans hanging from the back of my hood blowing air on them both fans cost me about 8.00 at Wal-Mart.
