What is the benefit of precured rock?

I'd like to order some rock and see that Marco Rocks has precured rock.

Can that rock be added directly to an existing system and not cause a spike?

I'm just wondering what the benefit of precured rock is?

in theory, yes, it can

but they ship it to you dry ! (or wet at best, but not submerged in water) so some die offs will happen. which will lead to spike in your tank,

the amount or peak of spike depends on how much the LR has been out of water for, and what percentage of total system LR does it take.

Yes, if the rock truly is pre-cured it can be added directly to a tank without any spike. It will actually increase the bio-load your tank is capable of handling.
But you are taking the seller's word that the rock is pre-cured.
I would add and wait a few days and check your ammonia to be sure.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to place the rock in a bucket with some saltwater and a powerhead for a week or two and monitor the params to see if you get an ammonia spike.
