I saw a LFS selling a black tang last week for like $700. I guess after seeing the price stated above that's a pretty damn good deal for someone.

I doubt they actually have these fish.....I believe a collection of Personatus has just occurred for the first time in a VERY long time.

Also, not sure why a Hawaiian fish would cost less in Australia than the US, while another Hawaiian fish, the Black Tang would cost much more in Aus than here.....

I call shenanigans. The Aussie version of AquaCon?????!!

Are you serious?
We pay much higher prices here in oz. $20 each for turbo snails??? This country is the highest taxed country in the world. If you happen to see something that looks like a steal (eg.Mentone aquarium fish prices), then you can bet your *** that those fish have been caught with cyanide and you'll be lucky if they survive for 3 months. Mentone is an absolute disaster for our hobby. Please don't buy from there.

Majestic Aquariums is not a bogus site. In fact, they are one of the most well known aquarium stores in NSW. Yes the prices for those fish are a joke, and no they don't have even 1/4 of those rare fish in stock.

I feel like they closed their eyes and rolled dice to set a price, or something like that

Yes I'm from NSW. I also work in the industry so I'm familar with Majestic. The prices are legit. You'd also be suprised at the number of people who defend those prices as being fair

patro since you've raised this on an international forum, why not just contact majestic and ask about the price list / fish availability yourself instead of speculating etc..?

FWIW our prices for some fish, eg stuff from the Caribean, is much dearer than in the states. While we can import fish, we also aren't allowed to import aquacultured fish. This also affects both prices and availability. Finally prices of fish like achilles tangs are very cyclical - at least locally. But its not all gloom and doom - except maybe for anyone silly enough to pay $20 for a turbo snail.

Yea, I gotta think that some of those fish they don't have (and the price is wrong).

If they have pairs of Personatus Angels, Feminus Wrasses, and True Personifers at that price, I'll take every single one they have.

But it is possible some of the other prices on the less rare fish could be correct.

wow !!!
it's almost unreal to see the prices on some.

369$ for an atlantic blue tang !! it cost me 49$ here
and like others 119$ for a gramma 20-30$ here

however we are slowly starting to see the frag craze,a select few stores
are starting to frag zoas and sell by polyp, but the good guys are still selling
the big pieces for 30-60$ with 1000s of polyps on them hoping to cut the others off.even aussi acan are starting to show up already cut up instead of nice full colonies..

Im sure those are Australian dollars and not American Dollars, but still, those prices are rediculous. You would think you being next door to the barrier reef you'd get some good prices.
