Anyone in the MD area that can help with my new setup?
Hi everyone, I've had lots of large tanks before, but always fresh water. This will be my first salt water tank and I'm excited! I just got a 150 gal tank. It came with all the plumbing, but I didn't get a chance to have the previous owner walk me thru what goes where, so the tank has been sitting in my living room for a few weeks now and I'm getting ansy to put it together. I was wondering if there was anyone in the MD area (I live next to Arundel Mills Mall) that could stop by for a few and help me put the plumbing together? And maybe advise me on what else I need to buy?
Also, I found an awesome deal on 150lbs of live rock, lots of coral and the live sand, all from a 120 gal and was wondering how soon is too soon to put them in MY tank? I have the salt sitting on the floor staring at me, so I haven't even mixed the salt or cycled the water or anything like that... I think the owners what the livestock moved ASAP. Can I make this work in such a short time or do you think I should just count my loses and move on? THANKS!!!!!! |

Say no to all the live sand and live rock and live stock. You don't even have a tank set-up yet. In this hobby, rushing is a guarranty to a crash. Go slow.
Can't the person that sold you all that equipment himself come over to help you?

ok, i think i'll just stick to my original plan and not put any fish into it until after we return from vacation in a few months. thanks for responding to my post! i'm sure i'll be asking a ton more questions if i can't find the answers from reading other posts.
yes, the guy said he'd help, but our schedules keep preventing that from happening. i also wanted to get it up and running *just in case* i was able to get the live rock and stuff. but since you advised against it, i can just wait for him. no livestock and go slow, dont rush. got it!!! |

To Reef Central Your local reef club is WAMAS http://www.wamas.org. I would join and see if you can find some local help there. Good Luck!
