Brown algee

I have been running my tank for about 2 weeks now with fish and im getting quite a large groth of brown algee on the back wall of the tank. i have heard mixed opinions on this some people say i should leave it as my rabbit fish will graze on it some like it to be removed any ideas?

Well if you see your rabbit fish eating it... leave it there. If not remove it . short and sweet!

Two weeks is pretty quick to be adding fish. The brown algae is probably diatoms, and is a normal part of a tank cycle, which you appear to be in the middle of.

It will bloom and go away on its own if all goes normally. Best of luck to your fish.

My tank did the same thing. It was a one time deal and it cleared up on it's own. Haven't seen it since.

My apologies. A diatom bloom is pretty normal in a relatively new tank, and I have found most snails love the stuff, but it usually clears up on its own, no need to worry. You can manually remove it if you like, or make some snails happy for a while, but you can also just wait it out if the look of it doesn't bother too much.

It won't hurt anyone or anything. It is also a food source. I leave it alone on the back wall, and my fish are constantly mowing them down. Just make sure to keep up with your tank maintenance so they don't start overgrowing into your rocks and whatnot, 'cuz then it will look just plain ugly.
