SWC 160 Skimmer noise level?
Iv narrowed my skimmer choices down to this skimmer but have seen little mentioned about it noise level.
It will placed in a cabinet 6" from my bed so noise is a factor..What you say?

I don't notice any noise. But that close to the bed even my computer being on is loud to me. It makes less noise than any others that I have used if that helps

It is quiet, I dont hear it over the other noise that a tank makes.

Mine is noisy. After 1.5 years, still noisy. Like a fridge motor. If I had known, I would have bought a different skimmer. But it skims great. If you have already bought yours, and you are set on having it in your bedroom, you could always turn it off at night.

Are you referring to the 160 cone? Mine is very quiet, but I can still hear a slight hum.

My SWC 160 cone I used in a QT tank was darn near silent. I cant see any little Attman pump making a lot of racket and not have something wrong with it.

Let me clarify my post above - mine is the SWC 160 xtreme (original, not cone - so it's the sicce psk-2500 pump, not the atman). If you are referring to the 160 cone, I hear those are quieter.

My 160 cone is extremely quiet. I would say the quietest skimmer I have used and thats a few. One would think the others aquarium noises like overflow and return pump, although my OR is dead silent also, would make as much or more noise.
Never run a tank in a bedroom though.

I have the 120 cone which uses the smaller pump of the 160 cone and it is dead silent. I think you'll be very pleased with your decision.

I'd be more worried about the noise from the overflow or noise of water entering your sump or even your return pump making noise. In the past, I've found those other 3 make more noise than the skimmer.
