135g tank: Want To Remove Fuge
Hey everyone!
I have a 135g RR set-up from Glasscages.com (includes their 38g sump like the ones shown on this page: http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=CustomPageSumpTanks ) Right now I have a Tunze 9010 skimmer in the first chamber and a fuge in the second chamber. I would like to remove the fuge so I could put the skimmer in the second chamber, making maintenance easier on skimmer. Is it OK if I remove the fuge all at once? I didn't want to shock the system or anything. Thanks! |

Do you have sand in the fuge? if so how deep is it? If it's less then 3" deep you can remove it all at once. they only thing I would suggest is, to take it all out and allow things to settle in the sump before turning things back on.

You may want to throw in an extra water change after 3 or 4 days. I personally think I get more benefit from my refugium than my skimmer, but if you watch your feeding for a week, the biological filtration of the tank should catch up with the new load if you remove the fuge.
