I think im the goby killer????
Ok I have had many gobies unseccesfully now. I have kept and have many pretty delicate species, but these damn gobies just won't work for me. My previous 90 gallon reef I am not proud to say but in the 3 years it was running I only lost 3 fish and all 3 were diamond watchman gobies. All would be fine sifting along, I never had DSB so I would feed mysis which they would eat like nuts. Then one day just dissapear. I now upgraded to a 180 and the first fish I added after the cycle was 2 algae blennies because I had a ton of GHA after the cycle. They were out of sight in 2 days. The algae issue corrected itself over time and I started adding all sorts of fish and corals. Tank is doing great. 3 days ago I bought another diamond watchman to sift my sand as its not snow white like I want. I already haven't seen him and no sands being sifted, which tells me he is a gonner. Can someone explain why I keep killing these animals meanwhile my tangs, clowns, clams and corals are all fine.

Do you have an open top on your tank? look around the back of the tank to see if your last diamond goby didn't jump out. I purchased a diamond goby about 3 months ago and after about a month he disappeared, never to see again. I suspect he crawled into a rock and died becoming food for the pods and worms.

Are you getting them from the same LFS? Maybe try a different goby species. Good luck!

There has to be a well established sandbed that has plenty of microfauna for the goby to eat else they will starve. My golden headed sleeper learned to eat pellets and nori aside from what he sift on the sand. He is a keeper.
