Looking for a do it all doser? what is the best choice?
I am looking for something to automate my alk, cal, and Mag. I finally have been nearly religous on knowing what the daily demands are of my tank! 17 days of testing straight with out a miss, I am actually pretty fast now.
Sorry to bore you any who, need a clean precise doser to do this for me, what do you guys use? I need it to be easy to use, and have timers and all integrated. I want to set it up and If I need to change something it needs to be on the unit, I have an apex can this help? |

I like the BRS dosers. I'm using them for cal and alk and controlling them with a RKL. Your apex should do this also. You only need 2. I dose mag twice a week without a doser.

well with the timer part in with the unit I would look into the bubble magnus dosers. I don't know how accurate they are as I have never used one but they get good reviews. I personally like the BRS dosers they are tried and tested but you need aditional timers.
can't say about the apex unit as I never used one of those either. |

I have an apex too. I ended up getting the bubble magus.
The pumps from brs look great, I just couldn't part with 3 sockets from my controller though. I like to think of it like this, the apex energy bar is $150. $150/8 sockets = roughly $19 a socket. So you're actual cost of the brs pumps is about $120 per pump. $360 for three pumps. Might as well get the profilux. So in comes the bubble magus... Cheap, does a good job. I can't complain. I might be a bit paranoid but I like the bubble magus in terms of dosing. I specify the amount and the intervals and it takes care of the rest. With the brs, there's always room for error if you do your own calculations. I'm sure it rare, but I know I tend to overlook things when in a rush and felt the bm worked better in this aspect for me. |

whats the minimum per day dosing that the magnus can do? it says 1mL - 1999 mL per day, but can you actually only dose 1mL per day if you wanted to?
Also, do you have to prime the pump for to operate properly? Thanks! |

I dose all 3 with the brs pumps and with a second EB-8 from Marine Depot. I went this route because I can have my wife do testing and send me the results while i'm out. I can adjust, stop, or dose on command to get the parameters back to desirable levels. With the Apex, I space out the dosing so things stay relatively consistent. If the demand on the 3 change, I can adjust from anywhere I am at versus having to wait until I get home or have the wife attempt to figure it out.
Be advised if you go this route, check your pump operation and program to ensure it does not overdose. Use plain water before you using the real deal stuff. I accidentally overdosed my calcium which in-turn depressed the alk and now my tank is pretty much all purple.

I use the Bulk Reef Supply Dosers and programed them with my Apex. They work great and are easy to adjust.

I have the bubble magnus and it doses 6 times per day (alk), then 5 minutes later the cal doses. Very easy to set up, just put in how much you want dosed daily then how often you want it to does per day and it figures out everything for you.

I use the Bubble Magus triple doser and love it. I had the LiterMeter III in the past but decided to go with the BM-T01 on my new tank since the pumps are integrated into the box with no need to purchase additional external pumps. It was much cheaper than the LiterMeter and it doing great. To be fair, it's only 4 months old but so far it's doing great.
