HOB Overflow

I can't drill my tank so I need a HOB overflow.
600gph-800gph
What should I go with a CPR,Lifereef or something else?
I want it to be quite and also I don't want it to take up too much room in my tank

Any input would be great

Lifereefs are the best IMO. Never had a problem with mine.

Get the Lifereef. CPR is a PITA.

Get two drains with stand pipes at different levels. Put a gate valve on the one with the shorter pipe to regulate flow. This will make it quiet. The other drain is the backup if the gate valve gets clogged. Speaking from experience.

this is a great idea I didn't think of. I was thinking of upgrading to the lifereef HOB overflow with two 1" drains for 1200 GPH. I think I am going to do this soon.

the one with two drains comes with two u tubes should I run one u tube and make one of the drain pipes longer for a back up?
One u tube so I still only get 600gph

You can do that or see if he will custom a standard box with two drains. They come with a short drain pipe so make sure you specify that you want one a few inches higher than the other.

most people think the CPR is a PITA because it is a Weir style and they have had problems with air bubbles and losing the siphon (even with the POS TOM pump which is really the problem and not the CPR).
I have a DIY Weir and simply use the venturi on my powerhead to remove any bubbles that WILL accumulate.
Most feel that with the right flow U tubes are less prone to losing siphon as the bubbles are typically cleared with enough flow

I have used an eshopps overflow box for 1-2 years now with no problems at all.

What mcgyvr said and it's nearly impossible to clean the weir of hair and coraline algae. With the u-tube type you don't have to worry about mechanical failure and it is easy to maintain.
