Tank Cycle
I recently Bought a 110 gallon aquarium, and it had 80 lbs of dried rock, that they said was live, but was not in water. Also i have about 25 lbs of live rock from my 26 gallon. As my new tank is cycling with the sand and dried rock, should i put in my live rock as well or will it kill off anything living in them?

You should introduce it now as you will have another cycle if you wait until later.

To answer your question, it depends on the dead organic matter that is in/on the dead rock, if you put your cured rock with all the pods and hitchhikers in with the dead rock and it has an outrageous ammonia spike then yes it will kill the microfauna (pods worms, stars, etc) on the live rock. If you have the 26 gallon still running I would suggest allowing the dead rock to cure and cycle before adding the LR from the 26, and then when you add the rock straight from the 26 to the 110 you won't have any sort of die off and a mini cycle won't take place.

Its worth mentioning, but I think you already understand that ... when you plan on placing the Liverock into the newly cycled Tank, be sure to perform a water test to ensure you are very very close to the water quality as your established tank
Good Luck .. |
