UVL PC-R dual actinic bulb
Just wanted to put my impressions of the new UVL PC-R dual actinic bulb out there. I have a BC29 with 3-36 watt PC bulbs. I am pretty cheap and have been running the nanotuners house bulbs (2 50/50's and a single house actinic). I have never liked the actinic bulb much as it seemed kind of washed out to me, the 50/50's are great.
So I decided to try the new UVL PC-R dual actinic, running it with the 2 50/50bulbs I usually run. While I was not amazed at the improvement I am happy with it. The greens on my frogspawn are brighter and a rose hammer I have has much better pinks. I would call it a 25% improvement in the color/appearance of the tank. Still a nice 12k look to the tank but overall nicer coloring. I would like to try the UVL 50/50's some day but I am too cheap and my corals are all growing well under the existing 50/50's I use. I plan to replace the bulbs about every 6 months to keep everything happy. So all in all I like the UVL bulb and plan to keep buying them. Just wanted to stick this out there just in case someone was searching/wondering about this UVL bulb. Later! James |
