What are the chances.zz

I'm about to buy a used tank with live sand and rock. I want the tank for a QT and use the rock and sand in my new cycling tank. What are the chances of getting stuff (diseases) introduced to my cycling tank?

definitely check the rock well for things like aiptasia before you introduce it to your system. I seeded my dry rock with some really nice LR but it came from a tank that had some pest anemones and if I had it to do over I would have gotten different rock.

could you not put it in your qt tank for a week or so that way you would know or at least see any unwanted pests
