Little white "dots" on my tank, seem to be multiplying?
I have notices over the last couple of days that my tank is accumulating some little white dots on the tank. They are attached to the tank sides and front, and look like small grains of white sand, and have very small "hairs" extruding from them, about 4 to 6 on each. Any ideas? Is this something I need to get rid of? If so, how? Again, thank you for your suggestions.

This is a good sign. They are likely some species of pod, whether they be a copepod or amphlipod. Generally, they are only good for your system because they serve as a live food source for both fish and corals. Moroever, they consume unwanted algae. Finally, the fact that they are breeding generally indicates that you have good water quality. You will have blooms of these which will fluctuate until your system becomes more stable. Nothing at all to wory about. |

Feather dusters. they are no harm. Just scrape them off the glass if you don't want them there. One thing to be careful about --- Make sure if your using a mag float glass cleaner, that they don't get caught between the float and the tanks glass.. They can scratch it. It will definitely scratch acrylic. They are little feathers dusting worms, that make a very small spiral calcium tube to live in.

They could also be vermetid snails. I know I had a ton of them attached to my back glass of my nano.

Without a pic, it's pretty hard to tell. Google hydroid jellies and spirorbid worms and see if either of those match what you are seeing.
