Can you identifiy these?

I picked up some amazingly purpled up LR yesterday from my LFS and both pieces had some sort of corals growing on them. Can you help me figure out what these are?

These tubes were very tightened up balls on the end of tuber-like-stalks when I got the rock. They have opened up some but are still pretty white. I tried a little spot feeding and they closed up on mysis shrimp and a seaweed mix I also use.

This brown patch appears to have had the rest of it cut off lately. The edge was white and had some white slimey tendrils when I found it. There may also be a little bit more of it down a hole behind this. Any ideas? Did I get a steal by finding these before anyone else?

Will the Palys get any more color or always remain the sickly white/brown? By "shrimp", you mean mysis shrimp or tiny cuttings of raw shrimp meant for human consumption?

Encrusting monti...... coooooooool! :-D

Mysis shrimp will work for that and Krill shrimp will work better. You're going to need good light and flow now if you dont already have them. Have fun with your new friends

Are you refering to the palys or monti or both?

it's funny, I'm always trying to find low flow areas for my pulsating xenia so it doesn't stay closed up and non-pulsing

depending on how high of light they were in, for example a low amount, they may get some color in them in higher light, most commonly some shade or stripes of green. i personally don't spot feed mine and just let them grab food when i feed my fish. they'll pretty mush eat anything, be it mysis, brine, squid, etc. the main food source for these critters is light. if you have good lighting they should spread like a wildfire.
