Algae growing in skimmer?

My bubble magus NAC-6 is growing some brown algae in the neck of it(not the cap, but the body part) I have a fuge light down there for the cheeto and i cant direct it enough so it doesnt hit the skimmer. Is this bad? tanks been up 3 months and it just started. Should i clean it asap or am i ok to wait??

When cleaning do i just want to run it in a white vinegar bath for a few hours / scrub the inside?

Thanks!
David

vinegar will slowly eat it till it just scrapes off easily. Be careful with certain rubber seals, vinegar can eat them up in the process. It's not the end of the world. I have some coralline algae inside my skimmer where residual light from my fuge makes it grow. Just try blocking it with some kind of a baffle of to keep light off, if you can.

Sounds good, ill clean the skimmer every 3 months. Just wasnt sure if it was that type of thing that will affect how the skimmer is working.

Not an issue unless it gets really overgrown, fortunately I am able to clean mine weekly when I clean the skimmer.
