New Fish Advice

Would like to get a tang.
Here are the ones i was possible thinking about
Powder Blue
Sailfin
Hippo
Maybe a Yellow

these are my top choices, but am not against others.

What are your experiences with these? I've read that the powder blue may be the most susceptible to ick than the others.

Would i be able to pick 2 of these? any advice would be appreciated. thanks
Brad

hippo tangs get stressed very easy and can get sick from being stressed as will other fish the are also skittish and will panic when startled and wedge them selves in the rock work and injure them selves. yellow tangs are very heardy and ive had good luck with sailfin tangs, just make sure you stay away from simular body shapes a yellow tang and sailfin will have simular body shap as will the hippo and powder blue id go with any of the 4 the hippo tang will need lots of hiding spots to make it feel safe and be less stressed, ask your question here
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1445390 you will get a better answer

I think any of the last two you posted definitly will work by themselves iffy together. The Hippo would be iffy by itself and the powder blue would IMHO need 6ft. of tank length. Could you live with a yellow and a tomini tang maybe? Or the sailfin and a tomini? Kole tangs don't get that big either and could go with either of those two zebrasoma species. I think a yellow tang and a dwarf angel of some type would look better than a sailfin IMHO.

In that size tank, of the list, the yellow is the only one I would even consider. Look up BrianD's video of his tank to see how huge the hippo can get. PBT should be left to more experienced reefers, IMO, since they can get sick fairly easily.
Sailfins get huge. Stick a large dinner plate into your tank and pretend it's swimming around; won't look like it has a lot of room.

An even better option would be a chevron or kole tank. I like their look better than yellows, and they stay a reasonable size.

I have had a purple tang for about 2 years and I don't think he has grown an inch. I also have a two sptter bristletooth tang with him in a 90g and they are fine

That's not a good thing, assuming it wasn't full-sized to begin with.. Optimally healthy fish grow.

OK great thanks, i do like the chevrons, but they are a bit expensive. Would a kole and a yellow do ok together? From what i have read they are both kind of aggressive.

In that size tank, maybe. Personally, I would just do the kole.

I want to get a kole for sure now, but just not sure what else. Maybe a flame or coral beauty angel

Those are both pretty fish, and I think they'll coexist well with a kole tang. They can be a risk with corals, though. My flame angelfish never touched anything, but I was lucky (and ignorant).

I don't have any corals right now and probably won't for a while, so i should be ok.

Powder blue will be the most difficult to keep. Sailfin and yellow are hardiest, but might fight in a small tank like yours. Safest bet is probably sailfin and hippo with proper QT procedures to make sure you don't have ich introduced.

Good choice I think your going to do just fine in this hobby. A lot of people come to this web site ask for advice and when they find out what they don't want to hear they ignore it completely, and then post what they got after they were told not too. I think any dwarf angel are awesome fish with awesome little personalities just like the bigger angels. Just as pretty and just as cool, but in a mini package. Have you looked at the Potter's Angels? They are more expensive than a Flame Angel, but are just as pretty some will say prettier. The Coral Beauty will be the cheapest, then the Flame Angel and then the Potter's. Take a look and good luck with your Atlantic Tang. I personally think they are just as pretty as any of the tangs you listed and not as many people have them.

I have seen the Potter's Angel before, they are nice, but i like the flame angels a lot. My live fish store i often go to had small flame angels for $70, waaaay too expensive, not sure why they were so much.
