Zoos disapearing

I have several patches of Zoos and most are not experiencing any problems. I have had a couple small patches of green Zoos that disappeared. Not all at once, just one or two a day. Before disappearing, they opened up everyday. One clue might be that the missing Zoos were very small. Water parameters are just fine. The usual suspects are the Tangs and Wrasses and one suspicious looking Blenny. The more expensive species of Zoos have not had no problems. Any ideas would be helpful. I'm just about to start hauling the suspects in for questioning.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

1. How long have you had them in your tank?

2. Is this a large rock with patches missing or a frag with patches missing?

3. One or two per day screams of predation. A fish or a vert is eating them possibly.

4. In my opinion, no surgeons, even the ones that are known and proven to be safe with zoas, are and can be suspect. Do a search in this forum and you will see numerous debates and discussions on this.

5. What type of surgeon do you have?

6. Do you have any inverts? If so, list them and how many you have.

7. You said your parameters were fine, but can you list all of your readings and they type of kits you are using?

8. Do you feed your fish? If so, how often?

9. And finally, how long have these green zoas been in your tank? If recently added, how long after the addition did this begin?

Good luck, Mucho Reef

I just noticed the same thing.

One big rock has 100 total polyps on it with different 4 types of zoa's. My cinnamon zoa's which only had about 5 polyps (out of the 100 or so) and was smack in the middle just disappeared quickly while all the rest in the colony are fine.

My calcium is low, around 300 and mag is low around 900 and i'm dosing them back up. But I would not think those parameters would affect just one type and not the rest.....

Wish I could help ya man!
