A couple issues I need adressing:
I bought a 65 gallon aquarium, the tall one, that had a 1" return. For some reason, I thought it was 3/4", so I bought a CAP 2200 pump because I thought that it would be enough flow
Now I have sold that tank and purchased a much nicer 55 gallon aquarium. It came with a RIO 2100, the overflow is 1". Will this be enough flow temporarily until I can get a better pump? What would you suggest for a pump? Now that I know the overflow for my 55 gallon is 1" also, looking at a chart, I can deduce it is roughly 900GPH correct? What pump would you suggest for this? I have a feeling the rio will not cut it. Someone on the local forum offered me a 1262 Eheim for 80. Is this a good deal? Does the CAP 2200 pump I am stuck with have any practical purpose? I cant even find a fitting for it, does anyone know how I can connect pvc to the weird fitting? Thanks~! |

The rio will work fine, the eheim is a better overall pump for sure. You don't need the highest performing pump for your return (but you do want reliablility), as you are going to create the majority of the current inside of the tank with powerheads or something similar.
