How low can you go (safely) with hyposalinity?
I have been considering using hyposalinity as a treatment for but some people have reported it not working, probably due to a specific gravity that was high enough for ich to survive. But if I wanted to be really sure that the ich was gone, how far below 1.009 could I go? What is the lowest you have gone safely?

+ 1 . I dont think alot of people get accurate salinity reading when they are running hypo. A properly calibrated refractometer is a must. I have heard of fish living for years in 1.009 SG

The point of going lower would be to eliminate beyond a doubt the possibility that the ich survived. I don't even understand why such a borderline salinity would be used. Ich can't survive at 1.009 but might at 1.010? That doesn't sound like a sensible treatment to me. I'm simply wondering how low of a salinity level fish can tolerate.

1.009. If it were safe lower, people would be using that.

as far as what fish can take my LFS keeps their SG at 1.007, which is also what they told me was good for hypo treatment which i just started today acctually. i have heard that 1.009 is good enough for hypo tho thats where i plan to put it.
