Slow Sump/Fuge Flow: No surface agitation
Hi Everyone. Is it normal for my sump/fuge to have no surface agitation? Please see video for better picture......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xnnyaCs6A4
My overflow is handling 95gph which I have tested by putting a 2 liter pail underneath the return nozzle at the same height it spits out next to the tank. I then used a stopwatch to measure the time it took to fill up to the 2 liter mark which was 20 seconds. I then did a unit conversion calculation to determine the gph my overflow is running: 2 liters = 0.528344105 US gallons (0.528344105 US gallons/ 20 seconds) * (3600 seconds / 1 hour) = 95.1 US gallons / hours (gph) Is this flow ok thru the sump/fuge for approximately a 30 gallon or less system. Should I supplement flow in the sump fuge or get a larger return pump (Eheim 1260)? I am getting an "oil slick" at the water surface of the fuge. I will supplement flow in the display tank with a mp10. See other video here....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQnnz5s01kw |

You can always place another powerhead pointing towards the surface within that section.
