How to tell if a bulkhead has a hairline crack?

I just took off a leaky bulkhead - which was caused from moving some plumbing around slightly. My question is, how easily can you tell if it has a minor crack in it? I'm tempted to just go buy a new one, but wanted to know if anyone had a tip on finding a crack.

Usually the rubber gasket would go first before the bulkhead goes. Or unless the threads was over tighten at one point or stripped. I never seen any bulkheads crack before. If you think there is a leak, go replace it.

I use teflon tape on the threads too.

i would doubt that the bulkhead has a fracture in it. the gaskets often fail. also it is important to note that a bulkhead will often leak if it over tightened.

And here is a little tip, I know most of us already do it but, always use a section of flexible pvc for at least a short run after exiting a bulkhead.

I have also never seen a cracked bulkhead, I have seen the glass around the bulkhead crack and that isn't pretty. If it is leaking, take it out, inspect the glass, and at very least replace the gasket. It it were me, I would be replacing the bulkhead.
