I would say good water quality, xenia loves to grow under weird conditions, and apparently works a good form of nutrient export, wont try to grow it ever, so I am kinda just speaking from what I have read.

I didn't realize these wouldn't grow in any condition. J/K Pretty easy one to keep.

High alkalinity, i.e. over 12 IME makes them melt and wither away.

0 Nitrates, 0 Phosphates, Ph is plummeting maybe 4. Haven't done a water change in forever. Xenia, Algae and pods are the only things left. Xenia has been dying off for quite a while too.

they are very sensitive to low salinity. try keeping a .026 or .027. my pink pulsing likes cleaner water and a bit higher salinity

lol, I assume that hawaiian cleaner wrasse is toast by now too...ph 4???? no water change in forever??? are you sure you should have an aquarium? I hate to sound harsh, but I think you have a pretty good idea why you have nothing but some pods, algae, and withering xenia

My xenia struggled with too much light and fluctuating parameters. Dosing iodine really helped, but getting CA and Alk steady and solid helped the xenia even more than the SPS. I now have xenia taking over my tank, and will have to start giving or throwing it away!

So you have your baby tank and your step child tank. That explains a lot. You HAVE to post a pic of the stepchild!

Sorry gasbatalla

I always try to keep it around 1.026. Could the skimmer be taking out to much nutrients in conjunction with the chaeto?

I'd say too clean of water is an issue. I had trouble keeping xenia until I started dosing phytoplex and basically gummed up my water.
