Non Reef Safe Fish In Best Tanks From Around The World Thread

I keep seeing non reef safe fish like Moorish Idols and angles in these spectacular tanks in this thread. You also see multiple fish that should by all accounts be killing each other. How is it that these masters of the hobby can do this. Is it because they have so much coral that it does not matter or do they have a secret handshake deal with the fish? What gives?

Big enough tank and proper feeding would be my guess. That and having enough coral to not notice the little bit of nipping.

Not every "not reef safe" fish eats everything on or in a reef. Many people keep moorish idols in reefs, and angels. SPS corals are usually the best type of coral to keep with these fish, where fleshy LPS corals are usually the first to go, or zooanthids. Also, for hard to keep fish like angels and idols, reef tanks have much better water quality too, so while you may be worried about nipping of your corals, many people are worried about the fish living, and reefs aquariums offer a better habitat and higher rate of success usually. But as always good feedings and lots of coral helps. One other thing usually fish go after dead or dying coral, so if you keep your corals healthy you will have a much better chance.
