Shelf life for mixed saltwater?
Id like to use a 20G I have lying around as a salt mixing station/reservoir. It would be in the garage with no lights, a heater and a small powerhead. Once warmer weather returns, I'd move it into the climate controlled house. I use 10 gals per week for water changes, so the longest it would sit is two weeks. Is this ok? How long can you go?
Is there any reason to keep the powerhead going all the time, or is it ok to just run it a couple hours prior to use for gas exchange? |

Indefinitely. No need to run a powerhead or heater, just keep the container closed to prevent contamination from dust or car exhaust. You should aerate the water for an hour or so before using however.
