if you have or had a copperband butterfly...please help me!!!
Hi fellow reefers
My question is about this gorgeous fish!!! I know that this isnīt a easy fish to keep. I know that they are difficult to fed. My aquarium is new (this isnt my first reef) ...and I donīt have any microfauna yet... BUT...in my LFS there is one CBB that is eating little pieces of shrimp, brine shrimp and mussels. My question is: This kind of foods are enough to keep a healthy and happy CBB???? Thank you so much....and sorry for my terrible english D. |

I think you'll be ok. If it's likes mussles for example, make sure to try two or three of the different brands out there on the market. Same goes with the shrimp. Every now & then, try to introduce something else. I just got this "Earthworm" flake food the other day and my fish go nuts for it. Good luck.

Ideal food for CBB is micro bloodworm any supplier of frozen slab marine food will supply make sure the other fish dont get it all before it settles into the nooks and crannies of rock the CBB will love browsing/picking it out of rock all day.

If you can get them, try these:
http://www.aquaticfoods.com/Blackworms.html Until then, mussels, clams, and/or oysters will sustain the fish for a pretty long time. Ultimately, you'll want to wean the fish over to PE Mysis (again, if available) and then just supplement with the food listed above. You can't go wrong with the blackworms though. Good luck.

Thank you fellows!!!
I think that we donīt have a consensus yet...the opinions are truly divided. My point is....fishes like bangais rarely eat industrial food (at least collected specimes)...but they have a great life with prepared food, other fishes like mandarins rarely do well with other kind of food other than microfauna... CBB belongs to what category???? Could prepared foods like pieces of oysters, mussels and shrimp substitute the " tank food" like pods ? or this kind of food donīt really work in long term??? I love this fish...and Iīm really tempted to purchase one...if he eat frozen prepared foods. But I donīt want to kill a poor fish. Hard to decide.... I will wait for more opinios before make my decision! Thank you all!!!! Sorry for my terrible english Best regards D. P.S: Gery...your fish is amazing! congratulations!!! |
