double question ozone/live rock
i want to start using ozone in my reef tank. how often do i have to replace the carbon if only ozone water will be going through it because i know in like filters where all the water is going through it, it has to be replaced like once a month. will ozone kill hair algae and cyano bacteria because im having a huge phosphate problem and im using ro di water i have 120 pounds of new live sand and i got about 200 pounds of rock used which might be leaking phosphates so also how long would that take to go away with proper care to the system and regular maintenance... oh and theres no way im cooking the rock.

Ozone won't kill hair algae or cyanobacteria directly, but it might help make the skimmer more effective. Ozone can help keep the water from yellowing. The carbon should last a long time, for the reason you state.
For phosphate problems, a GFO reactor might be a good first step, along with checking the feeding levels. These articles cover ozone in detail: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-03/rhf/index.php http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-04/rhf/index.php http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-05/rhf/index.php The second article focuses on equipment.
