Prizm Pro skimmer wont prime

i cant prime my prizm pro skimmer. when i plug it in, i hear a loud rattleing sound and water is not pulled up into the tube. i have everything air tight and tried priming it the exact same way redseafish.com tells me to. is there a trick to getting it to just pull the water in the first place? it sounds like the impellor is not in place correctly and is rattleing around. i took it apart and cleaned it all out but the impellor still rattles. getting really frustrated from this.
