Green colors are fading
I am loosing the greens from my corals. Green birds nest is slowly fading to a brownish green, green candy cane is getting lighter, and duncans are getting lighter also. They are not bleached at all. My lights are slightly over due, new light will be here this weekend, could this be the cause. I also changed my salt about 6 months ago from Instant Ocean to Reef Crystals, another cause. I did blend the salt to transition over for about 3 months.
Parameters: Nitrate: 0 Phosphate: 0 Ph: 8.2 Calc: 440 Mag: 1280 (kit is getting old, so this may be off) Just looking to see if I may be missing some thing else, or if the lights and salt are enough to get this reaction. |

How old are your bulbs? What kind of lighting do you have? Give more info about your system but my guess would be it's time to change the bulbs. Especially if they're more than 6 months old.

55 gal. with 4 VHO's on 2 ice cap 660's. The bulbs are 9 months old, couldn't afford new ones after loosing my job, but scored a new T5 setup for christmas which will be here this weekend. The tank has been running for 9 years.

you may have a lower mag reading than the old kit is indicating. Ive read in a few places of people noting loss of greens when mag dropped.
