aqua c ev 180 help, not making bubbles??

i set up my ev 180 a little over a week ago, and tried to set it the way the manual said to let it break in, i had the water level right where the neck starts, and the injector is all the way open.

i tried raising the water level, so it can start skimming, but when i do it stops making bubbles.

i'm using a mag 7 as the pump.

here's a bad pic:

any suggestions?? i know once these skimmers get working they're supposed to be pretty good, although i know they're a little outdated.

thanks

You may want to try and clean the injector nozzle and the air intake. Also consider upgrading the pump to a Mag 9.5 and getting the 1" injector from AquaC.

Hope this helps,
Landon

Does it have the ozone port on it? Its a grey circle that could otherwise be used to add ozone directly to the skimmer, but if its not being used its just an open hole basically. When I had an EV120 AquaC told me it wasn't necessary to plug this hole up, but my skimmer never worked well until I did.

how do i clean the injector nozzle and the air intake?

i've tried looking for the 1" injector to buy, but haven't found it yet.

which is the ozone part?, i know there's a whole in the collection cup that allows you to connect an auto waste collector to it right? it's not plugged, it just has a tube coming out from it.

I keep the water level even with the top of the black container (I think that is what the instructions say) it takes forever for the bubbles to start coming up the clear plastic column. I also use a mag 9 to get extra bubbles. There is a Aqua C forum on reef central that goes over all the ways to make it work better. I would read that thread it is long but has alot of good information. For some reason I can get my C-120 to work great but have had problems getting the C-180 to work the way I think it should work.

keep the water lvl at or slightly below the black container. Raising the water lvl will lower the air intake. Also the pic is not good enough to tell but it looks like the water lvl on the outside of the skimmer is too high. You do not want the skimmer exit under water.

The 1 inch injector helps skimming, however will not help much using a mag7. I would upgrade the pump to a mag9 if you up size the injector.

thanks so much for the suggestions guys, i will consider upgrading the pump, when i have more money

i actually moved the pump around a little today and it seemed to help a lot, i closed the injector about half way and raised the water level to about 2 inches below the collection cup, i'm getting great bubbles now, but should i not have the water level that high?

i don't see how the bubbles would go all the way up if it's lowered to where the black box ends, but you guys know better.

thanks again!!!

sabazerehi, It took about 3 weeks for my EV-180 to start producing foam. Very frustrating to wait that long. When the skimmer finally kicked in, it was unbelievable what it was pulling out on a daily basis.

I am running mine with a Mag-7 pump. The water level is just at the top of the inside top plate and the air intake is open all the way.
