Overflow Tubing vs Return Tubing
I was wondering whether the tubing for the overflow and the return pump tubing had to be the same? The intake for my sump is 1 1/4" while the outlet for my return pump is 1/2". Will this work?
Also another question I have that may seem dumb is that I have an Eshopps PF-800 Overflow Box which has a 1" bulkhead but the intake to my sump is 1 1/4". What would I have to do to make the tubing fit for them? What fittings would I need or inserts? Also I am using vinyl tubing not PVC. |

you want your drains to be nice and wide as possible to allow unrestricted flow. As for your sump, check inside vs. outside diameter, especially when you're measuring a bulkhead. The tube and plumbing fittings have their own width to account for.
All that really matters is you you can fit your drain pipe into your sump. Run the 1" drain through the 1 1/4" inlet and let it empty below the water level in the sump if you need to. The more "free flowing" all your drains are, the better off you'll be.

To help secure the drain line (1") you can get a 1 1/4" to 1" reducer bushing at Lowe's. You just push it into the intake on your sump and the 1" line will fit right in. Less than $1.50. HTH

That will work fine. But as we don't know really what your sump looks like it's really just a guess. My return is 3/4 inch pvc but the drain is 1" pvc.

Yes jump that will work fine. That is exactly what I was talking about. Push the bushing into your sump fitting first, then insert your drain line.
