Is it possible to plumb up my return pump without drilling my tank? like running pvc over and into the sump? Any suggestions for me please.

Where do you plan on pulling the water from? If it's a sump below your tank you can just plumb to the bottom of the sump and return to the tank over the top as you indicated. Make sure you drill a small hole in the return line just below your desired water level to avoid a siphon during a power outage or when the pump is not in operation.

I wouldn't, if you do not want to drill the tank you need a overflow box, much safer getting a overflow box for your tank that is designed to not loose siphon when the power goes out & for that matter keeping siphon when the tank is running
Going up & over with PVC works if you are doing a CL but I wouldn't if you are going to feed the sump. |

yes you can do that. the hard part is getting it primed. (just use a powerhead and force water in the intake.
once its primed for the first time, your set. i know a few people that have done it with different pumps. (iwaki's and other external pumps.

getting it primed is easy.... it's just what if it looses siphon when you are not home......
When I did a CL setup that way I just stuck a airline tube in the pipe & sucked some of the air out....easy to do & since it's a CL it didn't matter if the power goes out. maybe I am misreading the question |
