Anyone use both Tunze Wavebox AND Vortech?

Hi, I have a 65G tank running with a Tunze Nano Wavebox. But there isnt alot of flow in the tank, but there is alot of water movement. Its hard to describe the flow of a wavebox, its just alot of back and forth movement.

I was wondering if adding a Vortech MP10 with my nano wavebox will be a good idea or just overkill.

So, has anyone ever run both a wavebox and a vortech in the same aquarium?

Waveboxes I consider to be supplemental. I run 2 40W's with a Tunze Wavebox. The wavebox keeps the solids in suspension while the actual flow of the powerheads move the suspended particles in the water column, hopefully into the overflows, and so on. I like the wavebox for the fact that it moves the whole water column, allowing it to move detrius from behind rocks etc.

Well its a good thing you said something. I didnt think anyone had both inside the same setup. I will have to take a look at which will be better for a 65G, MP10 or MP20.

I do notice that the wavebox doesn't really "flow" but rather move all of the water.

I tried both. The wave box didn't seem to do much do to the random flow of the mp40's I run.

I run a MP40 in my 65G and it rocks, runs at 100% !! so MP10 is no good.

wavebox moves bulk water, but only problem I have with it is the bulky box !!! that's some serious real state !! and the pump inside the wave box is only 1500 GPH !!! a nano stream tunze pump !

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. I've done the same thing with four vortech's myself. Two running pulse creating a wave, two reefcrest for random flow. The only issue you could have is if the non-wave powerheads are creating so much flow it's disturbing the ability for the wave powerhead to function properly.

on my 65 gallon 36x24x20 i run 2 6055 nanos , nano wavebox and a mp40w tuned up 1/2 way on lagoon mode. i run 80% sps and the corals love the flow also my tank is BB

Wow, that is alot of flow in one tank. But then again I only have LPS in my tank.

This is true.. I ran an MP-40 and a wavebox in a 120 and found that the flow dynamics seemed to work much better with the pumps were directing flow in the same direction.. If you put thhem on opposite side of the tank or somehting like that then you will not get the effect of the wavebox
