I ask because I have read numerous claims of coral dulling in color or just not looking too good. I'd like to have some insight before I shoot for trial & error!

Really it depends on the LED's (color) you choose/mix. Has nothing to do with the corals really.
All mine look way trippy with just the royal blues only on.

Were any of these claims recently posted or are they from the start of LED use when 1watt units were the norm? Only complaint I have heard is that an equal amount of par from LED is visually dimmer than with MH's, which in turn can affect how your corals appear, not how they grow.

Two nearby reef stores and multiple reefer's from my local board are all dumping their PC/T5/MH setup's for LED. The advantages are just too numerous to go any other way for lighting as long as you can handle the initial cost.

I'm running AI super sol blues over my sps/clam tank. Color and growth has improved ten fold since the switch from halides. The improved color is truly amazing. I did bleach some zoas but it was my fault for not acclimating them to the new light. I don't keep nems in this tank, can't say how they would do. The AI's are pricey but I think they are worth it.
