Skimmer concerns
moved from lighting filtration forum no reply's
Octopus Dual Recirculating 250 Protein Skimmer I'm running this skimmer on my 3yr old 120gal with a 75sump, mainly sps and lps. Tank inhabitants are as follows 1 Midas Blenny 1 Starry Blenny 1 Clown Goby, Green pair Ocellaris Clownfish 1 Flame Hawkfish 1 Yellow Prawn Goby pair Melanurus Wrasse 1 Red Head Solon Wrasse 1 Bluehead Wrasse 1 Yellow-Flanked Wrasse ** I'll be adding two or more more fish ** Even with heavy feedings and the addition of dosing vodka and Brightwell microBacter7 the issue I'm having is the amount of skimmate being produced. While the colors of my corals do not suffer and my fish thrive. I wonder if the skimmer is being fed correctly, at the moment its fed by the return (reeflo snapper) t'd off. I thinking of switching and having one of the drains fed it instead???? **Both drains drain into filter socks atm ** So the water is ran through filter socks before it even makes the skimmer(hope that clears above statement up). Lastly maybe I should consider downsizing the skimmer? Any suggestions and Thank You

That skimmer should be running off your drain.
What impellers do your pumps have? That skimmer needs modding to perform. If you have the standard needle wheels mesh mod them. I have the same skimmer in the pile of stuff I want to sell but I don't have any impellers for it. I snapped them apart doing too heavy of a meshmod. I would consider swapping it for something like a sro2000, sro 3000 or their xp variants.

I have not touched the pumps so I have standard needle wheels. If I were to sell this what is a fair price?
Thanks

I will work on setting it up to be fed off one drain. Otherwise I'll look to sell and or trade.
