what pump 4 top off?

I am looking for a good pump for my top off system. have been using a freshwater pond pump. I got thinking that leaving it fully submerged constantly may not be a good thing. my main issue is finding a pump the can handle the 10 foot head pressure. Any suggestions?

Danner Mag drive pumps work well and are not too expensive.

Use the head loss calculator on the front page. Should help you find a pump that will get you there or at least give you some ideas.

Have you thought about a peristaltic pump? A little more expensive but they aren't submerged and make great top off pumps. You might be able to find a good used cole-parmer masterflex pump on ebay.

No actually I haven't thought about a peristallic pump, but don't think that's what is needed in my setup. I am using a Mitsubishi PLC to control my top off functions now so I need a pump to fill it from low to high in a decent amount of time. This is part of my overflow protection. After 40 seconds of filling if one of the two upper limit floats don't make then it shuts off the pump and flashes a light for me to see. If this light is on the pump will not turn back on until I reset it by pressing a button. This could quickly be disabled in case I need to pump to run continously, as in when I use that pump to fill my WC containers with RO water before mixing in salt. I do like the mag drive pumps and have been looking for one used but not ran across on a steal of one yet. Hopefully soon.
