question about clowns acting without their anemone and brain coral

FIrst question .. I got clowns yesterday for my first fish in my new 40.. they had an anemone when they were with their previous owner but I did boy get the anemone.. they have been peaking out behind my brain coral and rock..but won't swim around. I have had clowns.before but I didn't think they acted this way or acted scared . IS It because they are scared without their home ?

Second question ...got a brain coral from the same person also yesterday... it had some stringy things on It and atill has one or two.. is this maybe because I have more light than previous owner.m and will this hurt it in anyway.
