Best algae-scraper Magnet?
hi All
This is kind of a dull question, but what algae scraper magnet do you use? I've used the cheap MagFloat ones, and they always wear down. I'd be willing to spend a bit more for a nicer one (Piranha?), but is it really worth it? Do they last? Also, what do you think of the 'Mag-Flip' with scraper magnet? I constantly see them on sale, and wonder why they're always 50% off... Please let me know. Flame |

I like MagFloats with a scraper attached. I have the Reef Gadget attached to mine. And by the way, for a couple bucks, you can buy replacement pads for your Mag Float. I replace mine about every 2 - 3 years.
HERE is the replacement pads for the 350 Mag I have. |

I use/love the algae free magnets. They are super strong and float well.
The magfloats work ok, but are not nearly as strong as the algae free. I have a 120g with 1/2" glass and the hammerhead is perfect for me. The tiger shark is hard to move for cleaning but works awesome for holding up frag racks or quarantine boxes. I especially love the easy blade razor attachment I put on my hammerhead magnet. BRS has some of the best prices I've seen on these: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/...glass-cleaners |

I use an algae free on my acrylic tanks. I used mag floats on my glass tank with mixed results until I attached the blade attachment. The magflip was a waste of money IMO

mag float is great for plain algae, but doesn't cut it on coralline by its self.

They have a algae dozer scraper pad that scrape off coralline algae easily from Acrylic or Glass.
