Non SW question.

I helped my brother setup his new 150 gallon FW tank. Instead of buying those cheap HOB filters he went with a wet dry sump. We want to put carbon in it to clear up the water a little bit before we start to transfer fish. We bought some carbon but what can we put it in? I read you can use socks for sumps to put carbon it but I know there are cheaper materials. Can anyone give us some advise on how to make our own carbon filter?

panty hose,(but the clog up fast), mesh nylon bags...basicly anything that is safe in water , that will allow water flow thru it and contain the carbon...

you could probably use a reactor like the TLF reactor or even a small aquaclear filter would work you just need one of those mesh bags to put the carbon in.

A mesh bag or a pair of ladies stockings would work, and work well, just watch the detritus which can get onto it.
