Probably ich. If so the parasites attach to the fish, drop off to reproduce in the sand, and then reappear on the fish. Do not move that fish to the main tank. Do a search on here for hyposalinity and if the spots return treat the fish for ich prior to moving it. If the spots don't return I'd still keep the fish in the 30G for a full quarantine period before moving it to the main tank.

Yes they can. Since you KNOW that your tank is infected it is possible for some to land on your rocks and such. You can move them over now and probably should before you start any treatment of the fish. Just keep the 55g fallow for 8 weeks after you transfer all of your rock and critters.

NO. If you let the tank run fallow (aka fishless) for 8 weeks or more then the ich will not be able to complete its life cycle and will die off. New fish that get a GOOD qt period and have been irradicated of any ich (proactive treatments for example) can be introduced and you still will not have ich. now if you introduce something that has ich then it will once again have it.

Pull them out, and put them in a QT with the wrasse.....then run all the fish through a treatment of your choice (I like copper best).

Raise the temp in the new tank to 80-82F and leave it fishless for 5-6 weeks minimum to allow the parasite to cycle out.

It's possible to eradicate provided you're patient and have the ability to QT everything that goes in the tank.

Check out this article...it's a good one.
