My 120 restart. 3 month photo update after the demise

Hey guys,

I just wanted to post some 3 month pictures after I pretty much had to restart the tank after a near complete wipeout. I lost everything except the clam, fish, leathers, frogspawn, caulastrea, and of course xenia. I am not possitive on the complete cause but salinity played a huge role. I had a vacation auto topoff fail to topoff and I found out my refractometer was off and I was running a high salinity to begin with. The added stress caused a RTN/STN event that eventually went tankwide. The new sps were added in December 2010 as 1/2" to 1" teeny frags from area reefers.

I have had my share of problems that I am dealing with since. Aptasia ( matted filefish now making good work of that problem ), my liverock has become overun with a type of macroalgae ( added a foxface rabbit recently to help with that ). I also have had some algae and cyano issues that seem to be getting a bit better, albeit slowly. New coral color needs improvement as well.
Pictures to follow.

Very nice. It looks like that BTA is within striking distance of the Hawkins. You might want to move it away from the anemone. I've had some corals RTN after getting stung the first time. Others just had the areas that got stung die off.

Yeah thanks. It has been a concern for me and I have definitely been keeping an eye on it. The rose has not moved in several years and survived the large salinity spike. The rose was pretty bleached but did not move even through that stress. The Hawkins is encrusted on a frag plug and can easily be moved if need be. So far the rose has never came to close even on the most expanded days. I would hate to lose the Hawkins for sure and you have me second guessing not moving it now

I am looking for some ideas.

For some reason, my Foxface is not doing much munching on the macro that is growing all over the liverock. I used to have a Foxface rabbit in this tank over a year ago and unfortunately lost him to jumping out of the tank. That foxface eliminated any trace of macro/calaerpa algae I had. Over the last several months without the old fox, macro algae has reached plague proportions. The new foxface has been in my tank for well over a month and I have not seen any change.

The stems are so tightly wound on the liverock and in between LPS branches that manual removal seems impossible. Does the new Fox just need more time or is he a "special" fish that does not like greens? Are there any other natural predators on macro that you would reccomend? My Hippo just ignores the stuff too. What an eyesore it is. You can see some of what I am talking about in the pics above, especially in the Setosa picture.

Hi, that is neon green caulastrea ( trumpet coral ). One of the few survivors from before I had to restart.

Like the purple rim cap and the Derasa clam. I bet they look unreal under actinics.

Can you grab a shot of that when you can?
