i have a questions about moonlights
All the moonlights I have ever saw are little attachments. Also wouldnt they stay on all night like the moon would shine. I have 4 80 w T5s two are white and 2 are blue. The blues come on a couple hours before the whites and stay on all day with the whites then at night the whites shut off and thw blues are on for a couple hours and thwn shut off and the tank is dark until morning when the blues come back on.
My questions are: Should the blue lights be on all day wihen the white lights are on. The fans are wired into the blue lights because the fans will only run when the blue ligjts are on. Also my next question is : Are the the blue lights I have consided moon lights. Mine dont stay on all night and my husband thinks theyd be considered dawn and dusk lights. Which I dont get because youd think the blues would go out when the whites come on in the mornings but then the fans wont run. I dont have corals its a fish only but still think ita be more natural to have them for the fish. I dont know I was just wandering if anyone could explain these lights and maybe what times the blues should come in - then when the whites should come on - if the blues should be on with the whites on too - what time the whites should go off and how long the blues should be left on for after the whites go out. I think im messed up on the whole light situation thing. And cant remember what the fella said that I bought the tank from. Thanks for any help. I live in warsaw ohio if that would help in figuring out the lights on and off times. Sorry if Im confusing

The blue lights are most likely actinic bulbs. They add pop to the colors of your tank and also put out useable light....although less thrn your white/day bulbs. When your day bulbs are on the actinics should be aswell. This will give the tank a bluer and generally more pleasing look. What I have found to be the standard lighting cycle is actinics only for an hour, actinics and whites for 7-9 hours, then actinics only again for the last hour. This gives a sunrise/sunset effect.
Moonlights are separate and usually blue LEDs. These can be purchased separately and attached to your fixture or tank. They would run when all your T5s are off. They are mostly just so you can view your tank at night. |
