adding sand to reef
i have had my reef running for about 3 years. adding sand to the system should be ok. my dsb has at least subsided by a inch. can i add just dry sand to the system? or should i buy the bio-active stuff?

on my old tank added regular sand and worked okay.
I rinsed first, then used some 2" PVC pipe to prevent clouding. Pipe was long enough to reach all the way to the bottom and just slowly added in the sand. Covered one side (about 1/2) waited a few days then did the other side.
