black wall behind the tank?

Hello all,

I picked up a 90 gallons tank yesterday with black stand. I will build a black canopy for it and was wondering if its a good idea to paint entire wall black as well. In my head it would look cool having everything black and huge pop up of colors inside the tank.
What do you guys think? Has anybody done it?

Just paint the backside (outside) of the back glass black. Use Krylon Fusion or Appliance Paint ( for washes, dryers, refrigerators). Both can be found at Home Depot or Lowes.

I used appliance paint.

Yep. Lots of people here have done it. For an added pop, use black substrate as well.

It will eventually get all covered with coraline, anyway. Here is the same tank almost a year later.

yep just paint the back of the glass black. this way you hide the cords running behind the tank.

You don't need krylon fusion to paint the outside back glass on your tank.. I just use the cheap $0.98 black spray paint from home depot I've been using it for 20+yrs on fresh and saltwater tanks with no problems.. I wouldnt waste the extra money on krylon fusion unless your painting something going inside the tank..
here's my 90 I did a few weeks back

i like the back and sides of the tank black and its so much faster and easier to use the black sticker type coverings instead of paint . it doesn't scratch off and it takes twenty minutes or so to apply to most tanks ,no dry time or recoating and also no thought of any "poisens" associated with paint that has yet to be proven either way . it does cost a bit more but its pretty much bullet proof and very easy to apply .

thats a good idea too.. I wouldn't worry about poisons though.. I've painted fully setup and running tanks just tape em off and cover the top=)
