50G Cadlights and AI Sol

Hi all

After a lot of going back and fourth I am considering the 50G Cadlights as my first ever setup. I want to go LED and was wondering if a single AI SOL would be fine for this tank and also if i was to get the cadlight mount would this work to hang the AI off?

Are their other alternative LED's that would cover this tank that are dimmable\ controllable?

Thanks!

This is the link to an AI discussion thread.

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...3#post17031963

There is a lot of information on the thread and some of the posters have used one AI unit on the CAD 50g (24x24 foot print for the CAD right?) with the light unit mounted length wise ie., opposite from what is shown on the AI site.

On the same thread will be information about how powerful the AI is which could lead to coral bleaching if the light level is set too high.

Read through the thread. Again a lot of info and very helpful.

Hope this helps.

You could get away with one AI SOL if you mount it high enough from the water. I have 2 mounted over my 36 x 36 150G at about 16" above the water, and they give a nice spread of light. They are plenty powerful enough to mount them high. Not sure how well that cadlight mount would work though. You might want to look into other mounting options.
