Finally- my turn :) My new upgrade rimless!
So, this is going to take awhile but I will slowly update it as I get things. Tank Specs:
93.5 gallon rimless 30X30X24 Reef Ready Use: Reef tank- LPS, SPS, Zoas We want some awesome fish for this tank too so suggestions are awesome. We will be upgrading our 55 to this 93 gallon which is going to be so nice! Pictures: At the LFS: Stand with LOTS of room! So nice to upgrade to a stand with room! We won't have the tank in our apartment until May so this thread will be updated then. Advice on sump size, stocking, powerheads, skimmer, return pump, etc is ALL welcome! Thanks |

Sick Dimensions! I say stick with RO skimmers, Eheim for the pumps, MP10's or MP40 for flow (you cant put anything over that beautiful rim!) What kind of lighting are you planning?

Thanks! We have a 48" Aquatic Life fixture that we are thinking of hanging up high so we don't have to get a new light(the fixture we have now is almost brand new). Can we do that? a 48" light over a 30" tank? Is it ok? Who has the best deals on MPs? Also- I keep trying to figure out how many I would need but I can't find the specs on the MP10-just the MP40.

Good looking tank. What kind of budget do you have for your other equipment?

MarineDepot seems to have the best prices on MP10's and 40's. The 10's may be a little small for your 90g (I am putting two in a 55) if you want to keep a lot of SPS. But they will be killer (or 1 mp40) on a mixed reef. They also only barely work on 12mm glass (and 1/2 inch) and are only rated for 3/8. MP10 is 1500 GPH but varies because of the wave modes. |

With the budget, it's flexible. We may have to slowly add stuff(like the MPs) since we wouldn't be able to afford those until we sell our 55 equipment to fund for the nicer powerheads. Suggestions are welcome for everything. I don't want to buy crap but I don't want REALLY expensive either (like a $500 skimmer! Ah!).

Would a 36" look wierd? It shouldn't hang over too much.

Mallorie, esthetically speaking, it would look more natural to have shorter light over the tank, than one hanging over the edges, even by just a couple of inches. Is your tank 30" wide? Have you looked on Maine Depot's website for odd sized lighting?

Hi Scott,
I will check them out thanks! We were going to go with a MH but now I think we are going to go with a 24" 6 bulb ATI sunpower fixture. |

Nice looking tank. I think you should consider the 8x24W Sunpower, especially if you want to keep SPS.
As far as the Vortech's, you are going to want at least an MP40. Probably better if you went with two or at least added an MP10. Good luck, whatever you decide ! Last edited by AugustWest; 04/18/2011 at 12:35 PM. Reason: spelling |
