Bubble Magus 180EX

My new skimmer arrived today and it's a tad bigger than I expected. I knew the dimensions before ordering and verified space in the stand, but out of the box and standing in front of the stand it is, uhm, impressive.

I've been running an NAC6A on my 180 while it was still relatively lightly stocked. But as the tank has matured a bit and I've added stock I felt the need to increase skimming capacity.

Here's a pic of the skimmer in front of the stand (42" height). Skimmer height is 25 1/2".

And a little closer look.

This thing runs on an Atman 4000 and pulls 1050 l/h of air. I'm putting this in service tomorrow after vacuuming out the sump. Will post some action shots and a review after its been running for a day or so.

Hope I can get this inside the stand

Looks sweet! Tagging along as I'm considering a new skimmer for my 185gal.

I hope you can take the top off once it goes under the tank!

Got it online and running. I have 3-4" from top of collection cup to top of stand. Plenty of room!

First observation: The Atman 4000 is quite a bit louder than the Atman 2500, which makes perfect sense. It's not loud enough to be heard over the MP40s, but it was a noticeable change.

Second observation. There are a good 16" of bubbles in the cone. This thing sucks some air!

In action:

What water level is this in? Thinking about getting one for my 120 gal im setting up do you think this is overkill? Have a octopus 160ex I was going to use but think it will end up being to small in the long run. I will end up having a pretty heavy bioload. I can also get the bubble magus 180ex for a very good price right now and can sell the octopus and almost recoop most of it.
