urgent help needed : my skimmer kept over flowing

i did a total cleanup of my tank including scaping the glass and the rocks removing the algae, do i leave the skimmer over flowing or lower down the water level ? ?

is it due to the algae ?

I would lower it a little until it acts normal again!

I'm not sure what causes this but it has happened sometimes to me when I add certain supplements
